The Ubell Creek occurrence is located south of the Little Zeballos River, approximately 6.5 kilometres east- south east of Zeballos.
The area is underlain by northwest trending argillites and carbonates of the Upper Triassic Vancouver Group Parson Bay Formation which is in contact with Lower Jurassic Bonanza Group volcanics. These rocks have been intruded by granodiorite of the Jurassic Island Plutonic Suite and/or the Eocene Catface Intrusions.
The occurrence is reported to be comprised of several parallel veins in diorite of the Eocene Catface Intrusions. The veins, quartz infilling north striking fracture zones within the diorite, host massive arsenopyrite with minor chalcopyrite. They occur at spacings of 3 to 7 metres. Samples from three different veins assayed 12.9, 2.4 and 12.7 grams per tonne gold and 4.0, 5.5 and 4.1 grams per tonne silver, respectively (Geological Survey of Canada Memoir 272, page 56).
In 1983, a program of geological mapping and rock and soil sampling was completed on the area as the Ubell and Isle 1-2 claims. In 2007, Grande Portage Resources completed a regional geochemical program on the area as the Cherry Property. In 2011, Gold Ridge Exploration completed a regional geochemical sampling program on the Tahsis Property.
